How I Became the Subject of a Conspiracy Theory

How I Became the Subject of a Conspiracy Theory

The paranoid style in American politics is alive and well, as I learned after writing about the new Sarah Palin movie Before I say something provocative about Sarah Palin, Andrew Breitbart, the mainstream media, and the culture wars, or revisit the short piece I wrote about "The Undefeated," I insist on airing a complaint. In four months as an associate editor at The Atlantic, I've argued the case that President Obama took us to war illegally in Libya, excoriated him for persecuting whistleblowers, insisted that he betrayed a central promise of his candidacy, and strenuously objected to his claim that he is empowered to assassinate American citizens without due process. I've shown that the DEA callously prevents sick people from getting useful therapy, highlighted work done by the [...]

Minority Leader Pelosi calls for Anthony Weiner ethics inquiry over Lewd Photos

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conservations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years. “I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night. “I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.” Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate [...]

The lefts Double Standard on Political Stings

The lefts Double Standard on Political Stings

Below are the Radio Television Digital News Association’s guidelines for the use of hidden cameras in news gathering. The Left, abetted by the mainstream media, has sought to demonize James O’Keefe from the start. Not content to stop there, they have also used O’Keefe to demean and undermine Andrew Breitbart given their linkage as the ACORN video story was playing out. In turn, they also attempt to further undermine O’Keefe for any connection to Breitbart. In short, if you prove to be an effective fighter against the Institutional Left, any and all events, associations, facts – and even non-facts – are considered fair game to try and damage your reputation. At the same time, a Leftist blogger can call a sitting Republican Governor, not just lie about his identity, [...]

Media Matters Caught Context-Editing a Tape

Media Matters Caught Context-Editing a Tape

Media Matters was all about getting the “full context” of Andrew Breitbart’s Shirley Sherrod video from day one. From that controversy, everybody walked away with a good refresher course in the importance of “full context” in the name of honest debate — everybody except Media Matters. From Media-Ite by way of Sister Toldjah: Let’s end the week with some Shirley Sherrod-ing – editing a clip to make it sound like a person is saying something that is actually the complete opposite of what they’re saying. In this case, the offender is Media Matters, which tries to prove that Glenn Beck’s radio co-hosts were saying Keith Olbermann was responsible for the deadly Manchester workplace shooting. Here was Media Matters’ (sic’ed) headline: “Beck sidekicks Gray and [...]

Andrew Breitbart Enemy of the State run Media with a Laptop

Andrew Breitbart strips off his blazer, windmills it over his head and lets it fly to the stage with a matador’s flourish. He booms into a microphone, sneering, taunting. Breath sprints to keep up with words. A Breitbart boil is under way, before a cheering throng of tea partiers on a moonlike strip of Nevada desert back in March. A finger stabs overhead as the conservative online publisher declares Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., a racist. An arm lances outward as he decries Republican leaders as apologists. Voice rising, Breitbart pledges $10,000, then $20,000, then $100,000 for the United Negro College Fund if proof is found to corroborate claims of racial name-calling during tea party protests on Capitol Hill. “They decided to play lowball, hardball tactics,” Breitbart [...]
