Democratic Senate Candidate Alvin Greene indicted on porn charges

South Carolina Democratic Senate nominee Alvin Greene was indicted Friday on felony charges of showing pornography to a college student. Greene, an unemployed 32-year-old military veteran, had refused to discuss the charges, which surfaced after he was the surprise winner of the state’s June Democratic primary over better-known Charleston City Councilman Vic Rawl. Reached by phone by POLITICO briefly on Friday afternoon, Greene declined to comment and referred all inquiries to his attorney, Eleazer Carter. Carter also declined to comment. A Richland County grand jury based in Columbia, S.C., handed down the indictment on Friday for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity. California Congressional candidate vows hunger strike until opponent agrees to debate

California Congressional candidate vows hunger strike until opponent agrees to debate

One of the frustrations of political challengers is getting the incumbent to debate. Ray Lutz, a Democratic candidate in the 52nd Congressional District in eastern San Diego County, has a novel approach: a hunger strike until one-term Republican incumbent Duncan D. Hunter agrees to debate. “Until Hunter steps up to the plate, I’ll be stepping away from the dinner plate,” Lutz said. The hunger strike is set to officially begin at sundown Thursday. Lutz has encouraged supporters to sit in an “isolation booth” outside his campaign office along Promenade Park in El Cajon and maybe engage in a one-day fast of their own to further goad the incumbent. Lutz is known for persistence. He was a leader in the movement to block the Blackwater security firm from opening a [...]

Top SC GOP Gov. Candidate Nikki Haley denies affair with Blogger | Politisite

Politics as usual in South Carolina, 1 week after Nikki Haley takes the lead in the Governor Race, rumors fly about an affair between a local blogger three years ago.  Haley responded, “I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage,” Haley said in a statement released to a local television station. “This claim against me is categorically and totally false.” Political Operatives keep what is called an “ace in the hole” for such game changers like Sarah Palin coming to the State House and endorse Haley.  Prior to that, Attorney General McMaster was in the lead. Following the Rasmussen Poll last week, attack politics ensued.  Here a a great example of how Republicans eat their own in attempt to be top dog. South Carolina is [...]

RINO goes Bye-Bye in NY-23 but not without a coming out party

RINO goes Bye-Bye in NY-23 but not without a coming out party

New York’s 23rd Congressional District has become the site of a showdown between RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) and conservatives. The conservatives are winning — but the RINOs are not being gracious in defeat. Now the RINOs are showing how much party unity means to them. They have no loyalty to conservatives, so why should conservatives have any loyalty to them? The latest showdown came when ultra-liberal State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava became the Republican candidate in NY-23. ACORN’s racketeering arm, also known as the Working Families Party, backed her. Yet the Republican old guard also backed this useful idiot. Newt Gingrich backed this tool. The name “Republican” was all that mattered to them. Not principle. But Sarah Palin, a true conservative, instead endorsed [...]
