Bill Clements , a successful Dallas businessman who shattered the image of Texas as a one-party state by becoming its first Republican governor in more than a century, has died at the age of 94. Not content to be the millionaire founder of a worldwide oil-drilling company, Mr. Clements sought to transfer his success in the business world into a successful career in politics. Haley says no VP run in 2012

Gov. Nikki Haley said this morning she will not be a vice presidential candidate on anyone’s ticket next year and is committed to giving the people of South Carolina the four years they elected her to serve. “I find it silly,” Haley said about talk of her joining a Republican presidential ticket in 2012. “The people of South Carolina took a chance on electing me. We noticed that the South Carolina operatives have not been gearing up. We thought that with Fox News suspensions of other potential candidates that Huckabee was playing his cards close to his chest. But now that it is thirty days from his suggested announcement time and his mentioning a new education program we get the drift that Saturdays announcement is to say he will pass on 2012 presidential run.
