Tis the season for predictions

No end of the year political shindig would be complete without pundits and prophets gazing into the chicken entrails and letting us know what we should expect in the year to come. Given the fact that we so rarely see end of the year, “Look how well I did last December” articles, you might not want to invest too heavily based on these. But a quick look around should provide us with some amusement if nothing else. Over at The Sun Journal in Maine, self styled psychic Vicki Monroe was asked to take a crack at the task. Vicki is described as someone who, “has been seeing spirits for most of her life. She ignored them for years, until one day she embraced her psychic side.” Her thoughts: * Obama will win re-election. Others won’t. “They’re saying in the election what’s [...]

Top Five Reasons Newt Would Lose to Obama

1. Too many Independents are set against Newt Gingrich. While there’s a bit of an enthusiasm edge on one side or the other from election to election, for the most part, American elections are split in thirds – there’s about one-third of America with its mind set to vote Democrat, about one-third with its mind set to vote Republican, and a middle-third which actually decides the election. It was the Independents who put Obama into the White House and it’s the Independents who seem poised to make him a one-term president, but when it comes to a choice of Gingrich vs. Obama, many Independents still remember the government shutdown of ’95 & ’96 and place the blame for it on Gingrich and not Clinton and many Indies see Newt as just too far right, the hardcore conservative [...]

Former MF Global CEO Jon Corzine was exiting the room during a recess in Thursday’s House Financial Services Committee, when a man attempted to serve him with papers on behalf of one of the firm’s former clients. CNBC cameras captured a man walking up to Corzine as he exited the hearing room and attempting to serve him with a lawsuit. Corzine told the process server to see his lawyer and kept walking as someone in his party bent over to pick up the documents, which had been put on the ground in the former New Jersey senator and governor’s wake. The network’s Kayla Tausche said the suit is on behalf of a customer who had a $95 million MF Global account, filed in the Southern District of New York. via Corzine Gets Served Outside Capitol Hill Hearing - Forbes.
