How I Became the Subject of a Conspiracy Theory

How I Became the Subject of a Conspiracy Theory

The paranoid style in American politics is alive and well, as I learned after writing about the new Sarah Palin movie Before I say something provocative about Sarah Palin, Andrew Breitbart, the mainstream media, and the culture wars, or revisit the short piece I wrote about "The Undefeated," I insist on airing a complaint. In four months as an associate editor at The Atlantic, I've argued the case that President Obama took us to war illegally in Libya, excoriated him for persecuting whistleblowers, insisted that he betrayed a central promise of his candidacy, and strenuously objected to his claim that he is empowered to assassinate American citizens without due process. I've shown that the DEA callously prevents sick people from getting useful therapy, highlighted work done by the [...]

Palin’s E-Mails – Is the Main Stream Media this Desperate

Via albertacowpoke Sarah Palin continues to be the most controversial and scrutinized public figure in the United States.  In a highly unusual move, approximately 25,000 pages of Sarah Palin's e-mails from her time as Governor of Alaska, starting at  inauguration in 2006 until she was chosen as John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate have been released. Palin has been a controversial figure since she first appeared on the national scene.  This was partly due to her being a "practical unknown" in the lower 48 and partly because she is a conservative woman. The e-mails were released as part of a Freedom of Information request by news media in 2008.  Reporters and journalists will be sifting through these e-mails to see if there is anything newsworthy.  There is no [...]

Herman Cain: Iowa is critical to the presidential selection process

Herman Cain: Iowa is critical to the presidential selection process

Retired businessman Herman Cain stressed his Iowa efforts today, in the wake of criticism from Republicans here about other presidential candidates skipping Iowa in their campaigns. “I now understand why and how Iowa is so critical to this whole process,” Cain said. “This is where the vetting process really starts and it’s been good. It’s been great.” Cain, who is on his 19th visit here, promised the audience of more than 140 that this won’t be his last visit here. Cain, 65, of surburban Georgia, is making three Iowa stops today – in Sioux Center, Iowa City and Pella – as part of the presidential lecture series hosted by the Family Leader, an Iowa-based social conservative advocacy group. The president of the Family Leader, Bob Vander Plaats, today [...]
