Alabama votes to Nix Federal Gun Laws that Violate 2nd Amendment

Alabama votes to Nix Federal Gun Laws that Violate 2nd Amendment

“All federal acts, laws, orders, rules or regulations regarding firearms are a violation of the Second Amendment.” The Alabama Senate this morning voted 24-6 for a bill that would declare federal gun control laws to be null and void in Alabama if they were in "violation of the Second Amendment." Sen. Paul Sanford, R-Huntsville, said the law would put the federal government on notice that the state would not enforce "unconstitutional" gun control laws. “They are not going to use our law enforcement resources to enforce their law that we believe is unconstitutional,” Sanford said during the debate. via  al.com. President Obama: The NRA and it’s Allies Willfully Lied

President Obama:  The NRA and it's Allies Willfully Lied - Full Text of the Presidents speech following failure of Gun Control Measures in the United States Senate THE PRESIDENT:  A few months ago, in response to too many tragedies -- including the shootings of a United States Congresswoman, (Media Credit: New York Daily News) Gabby Giffords, who’s here today, and the murder of 20 innocent schoolchildren and their teachers –- this country took up the cause of protecting more of our people from gun violence. Families that know unspeakable grief summoned the courage to petition their elected leaders –- not just to honor the memory of their children, but to protect the lives of all our children.  And a few minutes ago, a minority in the United States Senate decided it [...]

Obama, Reid Failure to Launch on Background Checks

Obama, Reid Failure to Launch on Background Checks

The Senate dealt a major blow to new gun controls on Wednesday when senators voted to defeat the background check proposal that had become the center of the post-Newtown firearms debate. The 54-46 vote left senators six shy of the 60 needed to approve the amendment, and it left gun control advocates struggling to pick up the pieces of a bill that many on both sides of the issue now say is fatally flawed. The vote is a major disappointment for President Obama, who had called not only for universal background checks but also for bans on some types of firearms and on high-capacity ammunition magazines. Both of those proposals were expected to be defeated later Wednesday. Read more: - Washington Times. President Obama will address the Nation at 5:30 PM on failure of the [...]

Harry Reid: We don’t have the Right to Arm ourselves Against the Government

Harry Reid: We don’t have the Right to Arm ourselves Against the Government

Harry Reid: We don't have the right to arm ourselves against the Government By Albert N. Milliron Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said that he will support the Assault Weapon Ban against what he calls conspiracy theorists, black helicopters and false flags: “I’ll vote for the ban because saving the lives of police officers, young and old, and innocent civilians, young and old, is more important than preventing imagined tyranny,” I believe that as Americans, we have a right to arm ourselves against criminals, but we don’t need the ability to arm ourselves against the army or the police. The United States military is not out to get us. Federal law enforcement, local police departments are not out to get us. These conspiracy theories are dangerous and they should [...]

Co-Sponsored by the US, UN Approves Global Arms Trade Treaty

2 April 2013 – The United Nations General Assembly has approved a global arms trade treaty that failed to achieve unanimous support last week but which garnered the support of a majority of Member States when put to a vote today. The resolution containing the text of the treaty, which regulates the international trade in conventional arms, received 154 votes in favour. Three Member States – Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Iran and Syria – voted against the decision, while 23 countries abstained. Today’s action follows the failure of the Final UN Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) last Thursday to reach an agreement among all 193 Member States on a treaty text at the conclusion of its two-week session. Speaking ahead of the vote, the President of the [...]

Senate Crushes Obama’s desire to enter UN Arms Trade Treaty

Senate Crushes Obama’s desire to enter UN Arms Trade Treaty

It has been a good few days for lovers of the Constitution generally and the second amendment specifically as the Senate has pulled the Assault Weapons Ban, Magazine Limits  from the Gun Bill and struck down Obama's desire to enter the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment that would prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty in order to uphold the Second Amendment. His amendment passed on a 53-46 vote. Republicans have been critical of President Obama’s decision to consider the treaty, although Obama has said he would not vote for anything that would violate the Second Amendment. The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty would regulate international arms sales. Negotiations end on March 28. “We’re [...]

White House: Senate Passed budget will create jobs, cut the deficit in a balanced way

White House: Senate Passed budget will create jobs, cut the deficit in a balanced way

White House Statement on Democrat Budget passing Senate Today, the Senate passed a budget plan that will create jobs and cut the deficit in a balanced way.  Like the President's plan, the Senate budget cuts wasteful spending, makes tough choices to strengthen entitlements, and eliminates special tax breaks and loopholes for the wealthiest Americans to reduce the deficit. The President and Democrats in Congress are willing to make difficult choices so we can cut the deficit while laying the foundation for long term middle class job growth.  And it is encouraging that both the Senate and House have made progress by passing budgets through regular order.  We will continue to insist that any solution has balance.  The House Republican budget refuses to ask for a single dime of deficit [...]

Democrats pass ‘Balanced Approach’ Budget – Trillion in Taxes, No Payment on the Debt, almost no Cuts

Democrats pass ‘Balanced Approach’ Budget – Trillion in Taxes, No Payment on the Debt, almost no Cuts

Democrats pass 'Balanced Approach' Budget 1 Trillion in New taxes, No payment of Debt,  and almost no Cuts - That's Democrat Balance! The term “pre dawn” should only be used to describe two things: Raids and Tony Orlando’s early years. When “pre dawn” is used in reference to the time of day Congress acted, especially heading into a weekend, it probably means potential bad news for the rest of us. That said, at about 5 o’clock this morning — pre dawn — the Senate passed its first budget in four years. Maybe the “no budget no pay” bill did the trick, or maybe Dems decided it’s well past time to raise taxes again. The voting was first and foremost affected by positioning for 2014: The Senate early Saturday passed its first budget in four years by a vote of 50 to [...]

Democrats Unveil Gun Bill – No Assault Weapons or Magazine Ban

Democrats Unveil Gun Bill - No Assault Weapons or Magazine Ban - Like we have said here, neither would pass congress. Here is a bill, "Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013",  that is common in Congress, do nothing legislation that gives them a talking point to say they tackled gun violence Democrats Gun Grab Falls short - (Media Credit: Patriot Post) Taking the first official step to set up a full Senate debate in April on gun legislation, Democrats on Friday formally unveiled a package of gun bills, featuring a plan to require background checks "for every firearm sale," but the bill does not include two key gun control provisions on assault weapons and ammunition magazines that had been supported by the White House and President Obama. The bill was introduced by Senate [...]
