Huntsman won’t sign cut, cap, balance” pledge loses DeMint’s stamp of approval

Washington (CNN) - Republican Sen. Jim DeMint isn't sold on who to support in the 2012 presidential election, but Jon Huntsman will not make his list. The South Carolina king maker and early supporter of the tea party movement has called on Republican presidential candidates to sign a "cut, cap, balance" pledge to slash spending and balance the budget. He has said a commitment to the pledge is necessary to win his support that could prove valuable in the early voting state of South Carolina and within his larger conservative following. Huntsman, a former Utah governor who served as President Obama's U.S. ambassador to China, lost DeMint's support when he refused to sign the pledge one day after he announced his bid for the White House. "For me, he's out," DeMint said [...]

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) revealed that the top contender to host AFRICOM is... Charleston, South Carolina! "Secretary Gates, I've been told, has instructed the Department of Defense to look for a stateside home for Africa Command, to move you out of Stuttgart and that the leading contender, the most preferred site was Charleston Air Force Base," Graham said at today's Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on AFRICOM. AFRICOM Commander Gen. Carter Ham said he wasn't aware that Gates had chosen Charleston as the lead contender, but said he liked Charleston all the same. "Sir, I have visited [...]

Senator DeMint: More Spending Is a Threat to America

Reaching the debt ceiling should be a warning bell to Congress that our debt has reached scorching levels. But all Washington politicians want to do is shut off the alarm instead of put out the fire. The alarms are ringing loudly, and with more frequency, in response to new and expanded entitlement programs, bailouts and Big Government takeovers. Congress has voted to raise the debt ceiling every year since 2002 — and twice in 2008 and 2009. Raising the debt ceiling yet again without a plan to cut spending would be like putting out a fire with gasoline instead of water. Doing so would allow the government to continue borrowing more to spend more. It’s time to extinguish this idea. The only way to finally stop increasing the debt is to stop borrowing and [...]
Arlen Specter's Sad, Bitter, Goodbye Speech, Reeks of Arrogance

Arlen Specter makes his 'good-bye speech' on the Senate Floor. The Man who was totally against a congressman changing parties in mid-stream, blames voters for his own political choices. We here at Politisite are glad to see him go and welcome Senator Toomey to the Helm as Senator from the great state or as purists say, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This from Jeff Dunetz at the The Lid Today Arlen Specter said goodbye to the Senate, and in doing so he showed himself to be a bitter, defeated old man. I suppose such is the fate of political opportunists. Ironically he devoted part of his speech to bashing the "right wing" voters who seek to back candidates whose Conservatism was pure. Specter's career was all about the exact opposite of ideological purity. Specter is the [...]
