Politics as usual in South Carolina, 1 week after Nikki Haley takes the lead in the Governor Race, rumors fly about an affair between a local blogger three years ago.  Haley responded, “I have been 100 percent faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage,” Haley said in a statement released to a local television station. “This claim against me is categorically and totally false.” Political Operatives keep what is called an “ace in the hole” for such game changers like Sarah Palin coming to the State House and endorse Haley.  Prior to that, Attorney General McMaster was in the lead. First it was Jenny Sanford now Sarah Palin will be making the trip to South Carolina to endorse her at 5:30 pm on Friday. NPR will be airing a program today on 'All Things Considered' (check your local area for broadcast times) that deals with indigent legal services and the Public Defenders Office in Detroit, MI.  While this program deals with a specific city the problem of the poor receiving sub-standard legal services all over America.  One wonders why there are so many poor in prison and the affluent seem to "get off' with lighter sentences or having their cases thrown out completely.  The constitution seem to imply equal protection under the law and a blind lady with equal scales of Justice for all it's citizens.  In reality the constitution just doesn't seem to apply and The Lady has her eyes wide open and the scales are leaning toward prosecuters to those who can't afford legal [...]

Fire Breaks out at The Village at Sandhill Brixx Wood Fired Pizza,  Apartments Evacuated

Milliron Staff Writer, Iron Mill News Columbia, SC-- (IMNS)--  Shortly after 11:15 pm this evening a fire broke out in a ventilation system above Brixx Wood-Fired Pizza at The Village at Sandhill 486-11 Town Center Place in Northeast Columbia.  The blaze caused the total evacuation of the building including the apartments above the restaurant as flames and smoke were seen coming from the ventilation system in the building.  Several fire Battalions and rescue units were required to get the fire under control.  Residents who resided in the building were evacuated successfully and no one was injured at the time.  Fire crews were still working on full containment of the fire at 12:35 a.m. early Wednesday morning at the time of this writing.
